Body-camera footage was released Wednesday from the officer-involved shooting near the Erdman Shopping Center in northeast Baltimore.
The shooting occurred on Oct. 22 after an exchange between Officer Phil Polanco and the suspect. It is still unknown why the two were talking.
“The detective and the male appeared to be engaged in a conversation; however, the footage did not capture their verbal exchange because it was recording during the body-worn camera’s 60-second buffer, which does not record audio,” Baltimore Police Department Chief of Communications Lindsey Eldridge said.
The video goes on to show the suspect fleeing from Polanco and the two exchanging gunfire. The officer was uninjured in the shooting.
The 44-year-old man who was shot remains in critical but stable condition at an area hospital.
